I think it's just a matter of keeping things balanced. You can't just drop anger like a bad habit and leave it in the dust any more than you could for any other emotion. But the other extreme of being furious at everyone and everything isn't sustainable either.

It's just...hard to keep the scales even.

If you'll excuse the entirely too apt metaphor, your case is more like someone living in a cave for years and then coming out to the sun. You have to deal with normal emotions again and you're getting sunburnt before the paleness goes away.

But it does stand to reason--spherical planet, sun at a particular angle, you're bound to see a few places nearer the northern and southernmost points that are lacking in regular daylight hours.
